Who We Are

We are a society of men and women who strive to grow spiritually by offering person-to-person service to individuals in need.

To request assistance, call 248-553-4610 extension 240.  You will be connected to the SVDP client intake voice message system.  Leave your name, address, phone number and a brief summary of the nature of your situation. A team member will contact you to set up a time and date for a home visit.

The extent of assistance is then determined by the Vincentian team consistent with funds available and degree of client need. The need may include help with food, rent, foreclosure, medical, transportation, utilities (shut-off notice), clothing, furniture and household goods, etc. We work closely with other churches, community organizations, and governmental agencies serving Oakland and Wayne counties to maximize our efforts and minimize our financial commitment to accomplish our goals. We guide clients through the THAW (The Heat and Warmth Fund) application to assist with payment of delinquent DTE and Consumers bills. An essential precept of the Society’s work is to provide help while conscientiously maintaining the confidentiality and dignity of those served.

Financial support for the activities of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul comes from the generosity of the people of the faith community of St. Fabian, and we sincerely thank them for their support. Every month church envelopes, dedicated specifically to SVDP, are collected at all weekend Masses. You should know that 100% of all donations are used to assist our neighbors in need. A portion of this amount is paid out thorough a program call “twinning” whereby our Conference assists other Conferences (and in turn also receives assistance) when resources are lacking to provide needed help.

Become a Volunteer
