Baptism: The Steps
What to expect as your child joins the St. Fabian Family through the celebration of Baptism. Start To begin the process, call or email the parish at 248-553-4610 or [email protected], or fill out and submit the baptism request form. Choosing Godparents To be accepted to undertake the duty of a Catholic godparent, it is necessary [Code of Canon Law, 874]:
The godparent promises to help the parents raise the child in the Catholic faith. Therefore, for the good of the child being baptized, it is essential that both the godparent and/or the non-Catholic witness be baptized and actively practicing their faith. If you struggle with locating a godparent for your child, the parish will assist. Learn The parish office will contact you to confirm your baptism request and the availability of the date you asked for. You can attend a Baptism preparation session on the second Thursday of each month (Feb, Apr, June, Aug, Oct, Dec) from 6:30 to 8 PM. Plan After you complete the preparation process, your requested Baptism date will be confirmed. We offer Baptisms on Saturdays at the 5 PM Mass and Sundays at the 10 AM and Noon Masses. With Monsignor Hogan's approval, Baptism outside Mass is available based on celebrant availability and can be scheduled on Sundays after 2 PM. But when the kindness and generous love of God our savior appeared, not because of any righteous deeds we had done but because of his mercy, he saved us through the bath of rebirth and renewal by the holy Spirit, whom he richly poured out on us through Jesus Christ our savior, so that we might be justified by his grace and become heirs in hope of eternal life (Titus 3:4-7). |
