About Me
Mrs. Mallory taught middle school science in public school from 2008 to 2015. She taught high school science at a Catholic school for five years. She began teaching middle school science at Saint Fabian in 2021.
From the Middle School Science Teacher
In middle school science we use the FOSS Next Generation Science program in which students are actively practicing the skills used in the study of science. Students work hands-on to construct their understanding of the world around them. In class students study the world around us and this leads to wonder and awe at God's Creation and our ability to make sense of it. We practice what Saint John Paul II said, "Faith and reason are like two wings on which the human spirit rises to the contemplation of truth.”
In 5th grade students study Earth and Sun, Mixtures and Solutions, and Living Systems. In 6th grade students study Weather and Water, Electromagnetic Force, and Diversity of Life. In 7th and 8th grade there is a rotation of content over the two years. In year A students study Earth History, Human System Interactions, Populations and Ecosystems, and Heredity and Adaptations. In year B students study Gravity and Kinetic Energy, Waves, Chemical Interactions, and Planetary Science. |
