Advent Giving Tree
The Advent Giving Tree will be up in the Gathering Space starting the afternoon of November 26, 2022 with many suggestions for gifts or household/personal care supplies to purchase for those in need. Please return all gifts with their tags firmly affixed to the gifts, to the bins near the Giving Tree. Please return the gifts for JOM by December 8th, Covenant House, St. Christine’s, CARES, St. Dominic’s and Vista Maria by Sunday, December 11th. We are helping the following organizations:
JOM – JAIL and OUTREACH MINISTRY – JOM is a ministry of service to our offenders, survivors, and families of both. They provide hope and healing through an approach to the total person that encompasses quality care, attention to individual spirituality, emotional well being and human dignity. They are asking for our prayers. The tags for families are ORNAMENTS OF DIFFERENT COLORS. EACH COLOR REPRESENTS A FAMILY. MARY’S MANTLE – Mary’s Mantle is a safe haven for expectant mothers. They help the mothers through their pregnancy, providing housing, resources to help during and after the birth of the baby and keeping in touch with them when they have left the program to stand on their own. They have helped them with schooling and jobs so they can provide for their child. They truly walk with them, never abandoning them. More than 90 mothers have been a part of this process with the oldest child now being the age of 12 years old. Here are their needs: diapers – size 3, 5, or 6 only please, laundry detergent and Meijer Gift Cards. Their tags are the WHITE AND RED CANDY CANES. ST. VINCENT DEPAUL Our own St. Vincent DePaul is trying to meet the needs of many families trying to pay their bills, get food for their family, help with rent and whatever else their needs may be. Please consider being generous so that they may be the Hands and Feet of Christ to others for our parish. You can write them a check made payable to: St. Vincent DePaul. Their tag is the YELLOW STAR. CARES – Community Action Resources Empowerment Services – offers support to families in our area that are in need or have limited access to everyday necessities due to financial needs or family instability. CARES is asking us to help fill the pantry! They are looking for Boxes of Cereal, Toilet Paper, Paper Towels, Diapers and wipes, Dish Soap, Laundry Detergent, Nutritional Bars. This is a great way to share with your kids how everyone has certain needs. The tag for this one is the ORANGE MANGER. ST. MOSES THE BLACK -St. Moses the Black parish has an outreach for families for Christmas shopping. They will turn their social hall into a “store” where people who have already applied to be part of this program can go shopping for their families. The cost to the family is $5.00. This way they are giving them some dignity in paying for the items they will be taking. They are looking for items for all ages: coats, hats, gloves, boots, toys for kids. They have the GREEN TREES. VISTA MARIA - is a residential center for girls/young ladies ages 11-24 and a foster care program for boys ages 3- 18. Their stocking stuffer gift suggestions are listed on the SILVER BELLS and should be unwrapped. Questions? Contact Peggy Aoun: paoun@stfabian.org, or 248-553-4610, ext. 254 |
