Brothers and Sisters,
For centuries, Catholic schools have prepared boys and girls to become men and women of virtue and disciples of Jesus Christ. Saint Fabian Church and School cherishes the opportunity to be part of that heritage. Our educational philosophy is strongly embedded in faith drawn from a personal encounter with Jesus Christ, the teaching and principles of Church teaching, our Saints and Doctors of the Church and our Sacramental Life. We work together with our parents to assist every child achieve his or her fullest human potential and personally encounter Jesus Christ in this world and teach them to be prepared for God’s promise of eternal life. In our prayer we ask, “Help us to work together for the coming of your Kingdom, until the hour when we stand before you, Saints among the Saints in the halls of heaven…” (Eucharistic Prayer for Reconciliation I). An essential element for our success is the informed acceptance and engagement of our parent and student community in our Catholic philosophy and practice. All students are expected to participate in the religious education program offered for their grade level to act in a manner consistent with our Catholic beliefs and values. This especially includes reverence to God and respect for the dignity of the human person. This is our Catholic values to provide a school where students learn free from interruption, harassment, discrimination, intimidation and fear. All infractions are dealt with quickly, pastorally and with parental involvement. All issues are approached and dealt with for the good of the school and the growth of the student in mind. All are welcome. Saint Fabian admits students of any race, national or ethnic origin to all rights, privileges, programs and activities generally accorded students at school consistent with the Archdiocese of Detroit School Policies and Guidelines. Students with no, or of other, religious affiliation choosing to attend Saint Fabian are expected to adhere to all established curriculum including religious studies and attendance and participation in weekly Mass. Saint Fabian School’s curriculum is reviewed and updated regularly to provide the finest opportunity to shape both the minds and hearts of our students. Detailed faith curriculum objectives by grade are available on the AOD website. For a detailed review of educational curriculum, please contact the school office. I invite you to join us in preparing your student academically and for a faith-filled life beyond the classroom. In conclusion, I leave you this final thought from Saint Augustine, Doctor of the Church: “To fall in love with God is the greatest of romances; to seek Him the greatest adventure; to find Him the greatest human achievement.” May God be blessed in all that we say and do. Monsignor Timothy D.
