Adult Ed & Becoming Catholic

Adult Faith Formation at St. Fabian offers many different opportunities for adults to grow in their faith. It is our goal to foster a living faith in each individual, one that is based on the values Jesus gives to us in the Gospels and on the teachings of Vatican II. We hope to accomplish this by offering diverse speakers, Scripture studies, sacramental preparation for those who missed being confirmed, training to become lectors or Eucharistic Ministers, days of reflection and parish missions, and the opportunity to Become Catholic.

Becoming Catholic (RCIA)

If you have been thinking about becoming Catholic, or felt the Holy Spirit nudging you to learn more about Catholocism, we invite you to join our Becoming Catholic group. We meet on Sunday mornings from 8:45am until 10:30am in the Church Conference Room. Each week we gather and discuss the Scripture readings for that weekend and how they apply to our daily lives; learn what the Catholic Church teaches on different topics; and answer any questions you may have about the faith, in the hopes of leading you into a deeper relationship with Christ. We do this through various learning methods, including discussion, music, prayer, Scripture, DVD sessions (occasionally), and different activities.

Your sponsor is encouraged to come with you, but it is not mandatory. The benefit of having them attend with you is that if you have questions, they will understand where they are coming from. There is no cost to you--we supply all of the materials.

If at any time you feel that the Catholic Church is not where God is calling you to be, you are free to leave with our blessings--there is no obligation by joining us.

Registration is necessary, so please email Celia St. Charles at for the registration form. If you have any questions, please feel free to call (248-553-4610) or email me, and I'd be happy to discuss them with you. The Becoming Catholic team looks forward to joining you on this part of your faith journey!

Adult Confirmation Preparation

If you are 14 years old or older, and were baptized Catholic and raised in the Catholic Church, but for whatever reason missed being confirmed and/or receiving Eucharist, and would like to do so, please join us for a three week class that will prepare you to receive one or both of these sacraments.

There are two sets of classes to choose from: Sunday afternoons, 23 & 30 from 12:00pm—1:30pm in the parish office conference room OR on Sunday afternoons, March 12, 19 & 26—again from 12-1:30pm. You will be able to choose when you want to be confirmed: at Blessed Sacrament Cathedral on Sunday, November 20th at 11am by a bishop, at St. Fabian at the Easter Vigil, April 15th at 8:30pm by Fr. Jeff, or on Pentecost Sunday, June 4th, 2017 at Blessed Sacrament Cathedral in Detroit, by a bishop. We will need a copy of your baptismal certificate obtained in the last 6 months, also. Your church of baptism will be happy to prepare this for you.

Registration is necessary, please fill out the attached form and return it to Celia St. Charles at St. Fabian, or e-mail her at
