Spanish Curriculum
Students in grades six through eight attend one Spanish class per week for 47 minutes.
Grammar Lesson
Lesson #1: Everyday phrases- Students will be able to generate, comprehend, and read phrases used in everyday communication.
Lesson #2: Spanish alphabet- Students will be able to recite the Spanish alphabet Differences between vowels in the English and Spanish alphabet.
Lesson #3: Numbers- Numbers 0 through 31
Lesson #4: Months and dates- Students will be able to write and comprehend dates in Spanish.
Lesson #5: Days of the week
Lesson #6: Spanish nouns. The gender of Spanish nouns- Students will be able to recall general rules to determine the gender of nouns in Spanish
Lesson #7: Definite articles
Lesson #8: Plural nouns- Students will be able to correctly pluralize Spanish nouns
Lesson #9: Adjectives- Colors and personality traits. Placement of adjectives. Agreement in number and gender with the nouns they modify. Ordinal numbers - 1st through 12th.
Lesson #10: Pronouns
Lesson #11: Conjugation of regular- AR, -ER, and -IR verbs in the present tense. Cultural Lessons:
Lesson #1: El Dia de los Muertos (The day of the dead)- Practices
Lesson #2: Semana Santa (Holy Week) in Seville, Spain -History and practices
Lesson #3: Cinco de Mayo- History and impact on U.S.
