RELIGIOUS VOCATIONS

Is God calling you???

Could God be calling you to serve in the Church? Have you ever thought about Priesthood, or living as a Religious Sister or a teaching Brother? Have you ever visited a Monastic Community of Men or Women?

Do you know what a Deacon is and how they serve in today’s church?

Check out the exciting web site: www.visionguide.org and see the many opportunities that await you!

How can you recognize a vocation? You may have a prayerful sense that a person you know is called by God to religious life. By recognizing characteristics inherent to those who have a vocation, you can have assisted in encouraging their call. Do you know someone who has:

  • A good healthy relationship with God.
  • An ability to articulate faith and principles in his or her own words.
  • An ability to be a team member and to work with a variety of people in all age groups.
  • An ability to maintain healthy friendships with men and women.
  • An ability to work with different ethnic groups.
  • A willingness to live out of an option for the poor.
  • A willingness to become bilingual.
  • The distinction of being a real church person who accepts and lives the teaching Church.
  • A deep appreciation of and for the Sacraments.

Come Follow Me!

Many priests and religious will tell you that before entering religious life, they felt unworthy of such a calling. St. Paul tells us that he boasts of his weaknesses because he knows that God's grace is sufficient. Saint or sinner, you may be called to religious life. Please contact the Vocations Office for the Archdiocese at 313/237-5875 or a priest or religious that you may feel comfortable with. The Lord may be calling you! Are you listening?

Prayer for Vocations

God of life, through your Son Jesus Christ your promise of life brings joy to our hearts. May the grace of His resurrection guide our journey toward a life of self-giving service for the people who are most in need of your love.

Bless our parish of St. Fabian and our families with young men and women who will selflessly share your love as priests, deacons, sisters or brothers. As we celebrate your love for us in the Eucharist, help us to recognize and encourage the signs of your spirit in our young people, whatever their vocation may be.

We ask this in the name of Jesus who came to serve and not to be served. In His name we pray today and always. Amen!
