UNIFORM DRESS CODE
A student’s exterior dress sets an atmosphere and tone for the important task of education. Parents/guardians are required to cooperate in having their children comply with the dress and grooming code adopted by St. Fabian School.
GIRLS ONLY
Grades K-4: Jumper or skort (Educational Outfitters/Schoolbelles)
Grades 6-8: Skirt or split skirt (Educational Outfitters/Schoolbelles)
All Girls:
*Shorts are to be worn under skirts
*Skirts/jumpers/skorts – hem should rest at the top of the knee and may not be higher than 2 inches above the knee
*Socks/tights – white, navy, or hunter green only
*Nail polish – clear or light pink only
*Make-up - none
ALL STUDENTS
Pants:
Grades K-5 – Navy twill/dress slacks (Educational Outfitters/Schoolbelles)
Grades 6-8 – Khaki twill/dress slacks (Educational Outfitters/Schoolbelles)
Grades 4-8 – A dark belt is required
Shorts:
Grades K-5 – Navy walking shorts (hem should rest at the top of the knee and may not be higher than 2 inches above the knee); can be worn August, September, October, April, May & June.
Grades 6-8 – Khaki walking shorts (hem should rest at the top of the knee and may not be higher than 2 inches above the knee); can be worn August, September, October, April, May & June.
Grades 4-8 – A dark belt is required
Shirt: Short or long sleeved white or hunter green polo shirt, with or without logo embroidery, may be banded (all grades)
Sweater: Hunter green monogrammed sweater (Educational Outfitters)
Socks: Solid white, green, navy or khaki
Shoes: Tennis/gym shoes or a well-structured, neat looking ‘dress’ type shoe in predominantly black, brown, gray, or navy. Shoes must be worn with a heel and toe inserted in the footwear (may not break down the backs of shoes and walk on heels). Must lace up and tie (velcro is permitted for those with difficulty tying). No light up shoes, boots, sandals, open toes, flip-flops, etc. Tennis/gym shoes must be worn on gym day.
Hair:
ALL - Hairstyles are to be conservative with natural/original hair color, no extreme styles or colors; no bleached tips, dying or tinting
BOYS - Hair must be combed, cut above the shirt collar, cut above the ears, and cut above the eyebrow. Boys must be clean shaven and sideburns may not extend below the ear.
GIRLS – Hair accessories should remain simple and discrete (no feathers).
Jewelry:
ALL – Permitted are one watch, one ring, one bracelet, and one necklace, as long as they are not a disruption/distraction to learning; no tattoos or body piercings allowed.
BOYS – no piercings allowed
GIRLS – only one small discrete earring per earlobe, no multiple sets
GYM UNIFORMS
Shirt: Red cotton t-shirt with St. Fabian silk screened on the front (Educational Outfitters)
Shorts: Black gym shorts (mid-thigh length or longer); may be work August, September, October, April, May and June (Educational Outfitters)
Pants: Black sweatpants; may be worn year round (Educational Outfitters)
Shoes: Gym or athletic shoes must be worn
All grades K-8 wear their gym uniform to school on gym days.
DRESS UP & DRESS DOWN DAYS
Dress-up and dress-down days are special days when students are not required to wear the school uniform. On these days, make-up and nail polish rules still apply, unless special permission is granted. In addition, high heeled shoes, open toe shoes, ripped pants, tank tops, cut-off shorts, and flip-flops are also not permitted.
